There are some of the tourist attractions you should not miss while discovering this touristic region. Among the favourite stops in Nové Město pod Smrkem there belong mainly spring of local ferric mineral water, lookout on the hill Smrk (1124m) and local museum. Only a few kilometres from Nové Město pod Smrkem you can visit Spa Libverda with a large spa complex and favourite restaurant Obří sud in the shape of a huge barrel. On the Polish side of the Jizera Mountains there is spa resort Swieradow Zdroj. Only 10 minutes car drive (10 km) from Nové Město there is a new 8 seated cableway from Czerniawa Zdrój on the top of the hill Stóg Izerski to be opened in winter 2008/2009. There is a beautiful castle located in Frýdlant v Čechách. In Liberec you can admire zoological and botanical garden or the lookout from the tower on Ještěd hill. In 2005 new golf course with 18 holes, driving range and other putting greens was set up in Fojtka near Liberec.
